Save Local News rally set for May 15

We're days away from the May 21 shareholder vote to find out the future of our company. Instead of just sitting around waiting, we decided to take some action and do something to send a message to Tribune shareholders: We want shareholders to know that if the Alden hedge fund takes over Tribune, it will destroy our newspapers. We need local ownership.

That's why we're asking you to join us for a rally from 5 to 6 p.m. THIS SATURDAY (May 15), at the in front of the Grand Avenue entrance (560 W. Grand Ave.) of the Chicago Tribune Freedom Center. Similar rallies are happening that same day in Orlando, Hartford, Norfolk and Baltimore as the Tribune guild units put pressure on shareholders to vote "No" on the deal. We're inviting our local media to cover this story.

We need your support!

We hope to see you on Saturday. Wear your union swag! Bring your friends, significant others, angry union people from your neighborhood, etc. We'll have signs available. If you want to join in signmaking, please let us know, as we'll meet before the rally in a location TBD. This event is socially distanced, so please bring a mask.

In solidarity,
DPS Guild Council
